This journal has been placed in memorial status. New entries cannot be posted to it.

Wednesday; "Gone With The Wind"...

I just want to mention something here, in case you're not already aware of it. I want to mention the extraordinary craftsmanship that's demonstrated by Margaret Mitchell in Gone With The Wind</>. The density of it, and the way everything in it is woven together; the immediacy of it. It's truly remarkable, and I wish I could write that way. It's exactly what I want for Alien Tongues. Mitchell puts you right in the middle of her fictional universe, and is able to keep you there. I know the book is considered a pot-boiler, but I most sincerely wish I could write a post-boiler like that.

Thank you for the news. I'm so sorry to hear this. Please pass our love to Suzette and her family!
I am so sorry to hear this. My regards to her and her family.
My thoughts to her and her family.
My grandmother went in a similar way... blessings and Good Thoughts.
I pray Suzette will yet recover. But on a worst case, I hope the existing entries on this blog will be preserved and accessible. There were wonderful stories and discussions.

Is it already a "lifetime"/permanent LJ account? If not, where can we donate for this?
My best wishes for those who are there in the immediate circle of care for her, and for Suzette herself.

Her work brought me to this journal, but it was the bright spark of Suzette herself that kept me reading here, and honored to have her sharing her time and thoughts with me. (And so many others!)

Thank you for everything...(and thank you to Stephen for coming here to tell us, to George for the sad news, and to everyone who's been signalboosting.)

I am confident I speak for her many friends and fans when I note that any further updates would be very welcome, if there was energy and willingness to post further.
Tell Suzette for me that I'm so glad to have had her in my life, even at this remove, and that every time I teach my statistics students I think of her and her struggle with the odds ratio (which motivates me to make it clearer to my students than I was able to make it to her). I wish her, and you, all the best.
I just now found out about this, through noticing that the number of comments was increasing. I am dreadfully sorry to hear this. Stephen - would she appreciate the gift of some filk tapes? She would not have to reply, but I know how she loves music.
I'm sure she would appreciate gifts.

Tell George the box of filk tapes is in the mail. May they rest and delight her soul.
I do hope that she will recover. Her words have touched me on so many occasions, here, as well as in her published works, and she's been sorely missed by me. A true blessing to all of us.
I sent a box of filk tapes to Suzette at the PO Box and here's what USPS said:

Happy Birthday!
I've just been reading a wonderful old discussion at http://ozarque.livejournal.com/460974.html

Suzette's/Ozarque's journal is a wonderful resource. I'd like to donate to keep it up permanently (since because of a health condition she has stopped online activity). Does anyone tech or LJ savvy know how to do this by a LJ gift or something?

I don't even know how to find out whether she has a paid account or what. What happens to an LJ account if the owner stops posting or responding?
I think that concerned people can ask for the journal to be given memorial status.
