Personal note; miscellaneous...

Listening to the news this morning was a terrifying experience.

Wall Street is collapsing, and taking the world's financial markets down with it.

The descriptions of what's happening in Texas and Louisiana after Ike sound horrifyingly like what happened after Katrina.

My tiny corner of the Big World grows more complicated with every passing day, mostly because of all the elderliness around here.

The polls show the McCain/Palin ticket pulling steadily ahead -- except for the Obama/Biden ticket's sixty-million-dollar fundraising in August, and its 500,000 new donors, which don't seem to fit with the polls. Do you understand that? I don't.

I was pleased, therefore, to read this one sentence at Andrew Tobias' blog this morning:
"The Obama Campaign's mantra is 'respect, empower, include'."

At last. Three words. Instead of a list of twenty-four goals, with a convoluted description five hundred words long attached to each one.

Respect. Empower. Include.

Way to go. Next up, I hope -- the perfect metaphor.
