ozarque figure

Link; eldering....

I can't use the word "recommend" about this story, which claims that "public scrambles for new ways to describe aging Americans"; I'm not sure what word I'd use for it if I had to describe it. I would certainly be interested in your reaction to it, and your comments. Its author (Linell Smith) would reserve the word "elder" for "a respected member of the governing body of a church or tribe" and says that "elderly" should never be used unless your intention is to describe someone as frail. It's at http://www.baltimoresun.com/features/custom/modernlife/bal-ml.boomer19nov19,0,7841710.story or http://tinyurl.com/y95qy8 .

Thanks to Margaret Carter for alerting me; thanks to dteleki and kmd for help getting the links right.
