You're welcome! I prefer to use LJ as my RSS feed aggregator, so the first thing I do when I find (or am referred to) a new blog is set it up, if it's not already available.

Why do some people have really off-the-beaten-path names for themselves?

What I wonder is why she still uses that name when she doesn't want to any more, and gives explanations before they're asked for. She can call herself anything she wants as long as it isn't with intent to defraud.

For one thing, she's had that name now for many many years; she's used to it, and used to being asked for explanations. For another, she writes children's books (wonderful children's books, in my opinion) as well as adult ones, and children are absolutely enchanted with that name.

And it's memorable. We were given one of her books as a gift for our son, and now we seek them out - there are other authors I like as much, but whose names I can't remember in the store.

Plus, she doesn't say she doesn't want to use it anymore. She says she doesn't want to *explain* it anymore. Which other people could help with. It's not very polite to ask people why the hell they have that name.
