Personal note...
I went off to the dentist this morning, just for a cleaning-visit, with every intention of coming home and doing a respectable post to this journal this afternoon. However, being told that I have to have three of my teeth crowned has robbed me of all my initiative, motivation, and creativity. [Maybe of other things I'm unaware of as well.] Drat and blast.

By tomorrow morning I will be no less horrified at the thought of getting three teeth crowned -- but I will have gotten over the shock of it; back to you then.

Drat. And blast.

Been there, done that, part of the pain is sticker shock. However - one thing I set myself to do a few years ago was to get every repair made that presented itself, whether on me, the car, or the house, *while I still could.* Upgrades too, if possible and warranted.

Pat, feeling time's cold wind wailing down the pass.

...reminds us that all flesh is grass... And history's lamps blow out...
But the eagle has landed,
Tell your children when
Time won't drive us down to dust again.

*cough* Sorry.

For [info]ozarque, I hope that the dentistry is not terribly bad and that all recoveries go smoothly! I still need to get my root canal'ed tooth capped. *sigh*

I'm having Tooth Issues of my own today. Much sympathy.

Guh. I *always* have teeth issues. It's one of the most English things about me (and why all my pictures are closed-mouth smiles!).

Oh, I'm so sorry. Root canals aren't as bad as they're painted, but they still suck.

Yuck. But if it has to be done, go to the best. I had an infection under a crown 18 months -- stole my dreams and my creativity. So -- must be done!

Hang in there --

Yuck for sure. Thank you for the encouraging words and the good advice. As it happens, I am blessed -- I really do have the world's best dentist.

FWIW I've had a whole lot of stuff done and was suprised at the slight misery. Danged uncomfortable while in the chair, and inconvenient having to go in at all, but apart from that ... pretty minor!

Much sympathy. I've had a considerable amount of dental repair work in the past two years, and quite honestly the worst pain was to my wallet.
But it's the knowledge that teeth - which seem so hard, so strong and permanent when you're young - are needing repair - it makes me feel old. Or at least, ageing. It's such a certain sign that the hitherto vigorous, well-cared-for, coping-with-everything body is wearing rather badly.

Stronger words appear to be indicated.

...but as has been said, the damage to the pocketbook is the worst part of it (providing you start off with the nitrous at the beginning of each procedure).

I'm no good at all at "stronger words." [Yet another of the many reasons I'm never going to be mistaken for a geek -- or a young person -- I suspect.] About the best I can manage is "deleted expletive."

I'm sorry to hear about your dental problems.

I'm also including a link to a post, because I think you will find it to be an interesting read, and it doesn't require *much* motivation or creativity. :)

[info]siderea discusses the differences between showing respect and feeling respect, and how they are often confused, by whom, and why, here.

Thank you; I appreciate the sympathy. And thank you for the link; I've printed out that post, to be read carefully and added to my files.
