Benjamin Zimmer has posted a terrific brief article on word-coining -- neologizing -- in English, at http://itre.cis.upenn.edu/~myl/languagelog/archives/002732.html#more . Enthusiastically recommended; lots of useful information.

An art form which combines recordings of sight, sound and motion? How about if we call it "movies"?

I'm with you. I think "sisomo" is a very inferior example of a neologism. The question is whether -- like marketing a not-very-good book to the top of the best-seller lists -- the heavy-duty marketing and promotion it's getting will work.

I don't think it will. Remember "Fahrvergnügen"? People just made fun of it. I wouldn't be surprised to learn it didn't help sales.
