Science fiction; recommended link
Recommended: Go to http://www.emcit.com/emcit124.php#Dragon and -- under "Contents" -- go right on past Matthew Cheney's article on literary fiction and click on the link for "Hornblower Dragonrider," by Cheryl Morgan.

[Note: It's not my intention to disrecommend Cheney's piece; you could go back and read that as well if you're interested in "Literary Fiction for People Who Hate Literary Fiction." But my choice here this morning is the dragon item.]

One of the lovely things about being a book reviewer is getting to chime in on threads like this in full knowledge of my subject. I got a sneak peek at His Majesty's Dragon (U.S. title) a couple of weeks ago and am now nagging my editor for galleys of the sequels. It's marvelous.

Another reviewer here, and another unreserved recommendation. I'm seriously thinking about ordering the UK hardcovers. Tone is so hard to get right in something like that, and my first thought was to wonder if it really could be a first novel.

I've been looking forward to this book for so long, and I bought it just before Christmas when it came out over here. I really enjoyed it, and I recommend it to everyone. So good!

You're most welcome, and my congratulations on all the publicity and attention your work is getting -- that's terrific. I'm looking forward to reading the book (and its sequels).
