Two personal notes....
(1)
My posting to this journal is going to be erratic this week, and you'll know why. It's because I will be cleaning and cooking and baking and wrapping and decorating and whirling like a gig, all week, getting ready for the Family Christmas Fandango next Sunday. Once we're past the holiday -- and once I've finished writing the January/February newsletters -- things should return to normal. [I'll be sorry; I am always sorry when Christmas is over; but I have had to accept the fact that I can't expect it to go on all year round. Alas.]

I've just noticed that the times shown beside my LJ posts bear not the vaguest resemblance to reality. Most of the time, I post between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Where the times shown beside them come from, I have no idea. If this is something I should be able to fix, please tell me how, and on January 2nd I'll try to fix it; if it's like ticks and tornadoes -- inevitable and beyond my control -- I won't worry about it.

I suspect that your posting times are defaulting to GMT (which is several hours ahead of anywhere in the US; I think you're on GMT-6, but I'm guessing). You can fix this by hand when you post; by using a downloadable client to post (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=158), or by telling LJ where you are on the userinfo page and turning on Javascript (which, frankly, I don't recommend if you're using Internet Explorer).

The above assumes that your home computer clock is set correctly.

I don't do much LJ support these days, and I'm a little rusty, but if you'd rather deal with someone you sort of know than the support board, feel free to ask me more questions, here or in email (vr@redbird.org).

http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=33 is the LJ FAQ on incorrect posting times.

Have a wonderful Christmas! I'm sitting here getting ready to go upstairs and work on a Christmas stocking for the newest baby in our family, after which I'll also head into cooking, baking, wrapping, laundry, and the descent of family for the holidays. What a wonderful time of year. I hope your Christmas is splendid.

Have a wonderful week, and a happy new year.

BTW, from a song:

I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them, but they were only satellites
Is it wrong to wish on space hardware?

;)
